Prof. Ekaterina Mihailova tells NOVA about the possible models for parliamentary governance and where we are at the moment.

Mihailova is surprised by the resignation of Hristo Ivanov not only from the parliamentary group, but also from the parliament. “It is always bad when a strong speaker leaves, it also loses the debate – both parliamentary and extra-parliamentary”, said Prof. Mihailova.

Asked if this was a blow to right-wing people, she said: “The right-wing has already been hit so hard that I can't say if it is a blow.' Anyone who has been in the parliament knows that not only your team, but also the opponent should be at their best, she added.

In her words, politicians are in an even more difficult situation than before, because they have to find a path that is more difficult than when she was involved in politics.

„Even in the most difficult situation, we talked. There are situations in which we have talked not only publicly – can we find a way to work together. After the drama in 1997, a way was found again to talk," explained Ekaterina Mihailova.

According to her, the reason for the current rejection of dialogue is because of the ego, because of taking things personally. “Doing politics just for its own sake, going on and not explaining it – this is harmful for the state, not only for them”, Ekaterina Mihailova added.
