Serious fires throughout the country. The National Fire Service requested help from abroad - two helicopters to fight the fire. What is the damage and where is there still a danger to people's lives, to the forest and the economy?

Commissioner Alexander Zhartov, director of the main directorate "Fire safety and protection of the population", commented on the topic on Nova TV.

„The situation is most serious in Varna and Stara Zagora. The terrain is difficult to access – there are no roads, the wind is a key factor, and as a result of the heavy rainfall, the vegetation is extremely lush. These three factors, combined with the heat, make our actions difficult," said Commissioner Zhartov.

„When we receive a signal about a fire near a populated place, we deploy the teams between the fire and the populated place to protect people. After that, we start attacking the fire," he explained.

In his words, the fires are developing at high speed and intensity. “We could use some help – by order of the Minister of the Interior, we have requested help, which is expressed in two helicopters for the fire in Stara Zagora,”, he explained.

„These are fires that usually don't take much effort from us, but the wind changes the whole situation drastically – becomes uncontrollable”, Zhartov also said.

According to him, volunteers need to be used very carefully: “Some are trained, with personal protective equipment and equipment. At the same time, there are also spontaneous volunteers, but it is extremely dangerous for them to enter these areas. He told about a case from Svilengradsko where a boy was injured. “Most likely it was trying to carry out fire extinguishing activities, but it was not able to escape. "He is currently in hospital," Zhartov said.
