Coalition “THE LEFT!“ insists that the service "Civil Protection" be restored. In front of the media in Varna, the chairman of ABV Rumen Petkov explained that the same applies to the Ministry for Combating Disasters and Accidents and emphasized that the current situation with fires throughout the country proves this urgent need. What is happening is proof that our country is organizationally and technically unprepared, Petkov pointed out and accused GERB leader Boyko Borisov and his governments over the years of closing “Civil Protection” and the Ministry of Disaster and Emergency Management. He emphasized that clear answers should be given to the questions of where the equipment and materials stored in the warehouses of the service are.
The state should immediately take steps to buy equipment, helicopters and airplanes for the purposes of fire protection, Rumen Petkov also said, emphasizing the inhuman but impossible efforts to deal with the disaster on the part of the firefighters. He noted with satisfaction the lack of victims, at least for now, and at the same time commented on the carelessness of the state institutions and their policy. “We are ready to accommodate refugees in five-star hotels, and we are looking for vans for the Bulgarians left without homes”.
Rumen Petkov emphasized that the restoration of “Civil Protection” it will also be useful for the volunteers - training people is an element of the work of the service, many Bulgarians go to help with pure hearts, but they are unprepared and unsecured materially and technically, which makes them potential victims.
Out of this topic “THE LEFT!“ insists that the state institutions make an effort and pay tribute to the recently deceased Italian jurist Prof. Giuseppe Consolo, lawyer of Sergei Antonov in the trial of the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II. He managed to prove that our country was not involved in this attack and he should be honored, noted Rumen Petkov.
