Since 2006, hidden privatization of The Plovdiv fair, where the state slowly, step by step, but always reliably conveys the public interest through the Plovdiv and Varna municipal councils and through the Council of Ministers. It stated in "The Day Begins" Yordan Ivanov from PG of PP-DB.
During the management of the cabinet "Denkov" the decision of the Varna Municipal Council, which provided for Georgi Gergov to receive practically full management of the Plovdiv Fair, was attacked through the Minister of Economy.
“This is an unprecedented act in defense of the public interest, which has not happened in the last 20 years and is a success for all the people of Plovdiv and all Bulgarians. Although the decision has not yet entered into force, it is possible that there will be an appeal, we are happy that the state can protect the public interest. We urge the Municipality of Varna not to appeal.”
He emphasized that the ultimate goal is for the Plovdiv Fair to be revived, to be adequately managed, and not to turn into another residential ghetto.
Ivanov added that the development of the fair has been on hold for more than a decade.
