Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Violeta Koritarova, will check the traffic on the spot at the "Ruse-Gyurgevo" checkpoint, the Government Information Service reported, as quoted by FOCUS. This will happen approximately around 3pm today.

Their visit is in connection with the commitments of the government and the institutions to ease the traffic and workload at the Border checkpoints.

Yesterday, the deputy regional governor of Ruse, Georgi Georgiev, inspected on site the process of dismantling the old reinforced concrete panels and installing new ones on the Danube bridge near Ruse, the institution announced.

The renewal of the anti-corrosion coating of the bridge girders is also underway. The old coating is removed from the steel supporting elements by sandblasting, and a new three-layer coating is applied. So far, milling of the asphalt pavement, dismantling of guardrails, pedestrian railings, waterproofing and lighting poles has been carried out in the first section that is being worked on.

It is about 200 m long in the entrance lane to Bulgaria. The sidewalk console is also broken in the section. This is done in order to make it easier to remove the reinforced concrete panels. Traffic in the 200-meter section is carried out in one lane only. Employees of the Regional Directorate "Border Police" regulate the movement of vehicles in the area of construction and installation activities. For the last 24 hours, a total of 2,444 trucks have passed through the facility in both directions. Of them, 1,118 entered Bulgaria, and 1,326 left the country. The border authorities call on drivers to respect the ban on overtaking on the bridge facility and to comply with the orders of the officials who regulate the traffic.
