Total reported funds for preparation and holding the elections for people's representatives and for members of the European Parliament on June 9, 2024 are in the amount of BGN 6,096,849. This was announced by the acting Prime Minister and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dimitar Glavchev, during his participation in today's parliamentary control.
„The reported funds for the secondment of employees for regular and official members of sectional election commissions are in the amount of BGN 1,960,767”, Glavchev reported.
Based on the above-mentioned data, the percentage ratio of the expenses for secondment of employees from the total expenditure is 32.16%. The presented data are as of June 30, 2024 and are not final, the Acting Prime Minister added. He emphasized that the final data is expected by September 15.
The answer of the acting prime minister was to a question of the non-member of the parliamentary group people's representative Yuliana Mateeva. “These numbers exceeded even my wildest expectations,” she pointed out in response to Glavchev's answer. According to her, this report could be an occasion for a legislative initiative aimed at reducing this expense.
„I don't like the numbers either, but the best initiative would be to form a regular government and avoid elections,”, acting Prime Minister Glavchev pointed out.
