Karimanski: The heads of the BNB should not be ex-officio prime ministers

Expert's position

We should forget about almost all deputy governors and governors of the BNB being ex-officio prime ministers. If we want to be fair to the reports of the EC and the ECB in the part "Justice" where it is said that they should not go on unpaid leave but quit their jobs if they want to become prime ministers.

This was stated by Lyubomir Karimanski in the program “The Live Day” on NOVA NEWS on the occasion of the changes in the Constitution, which determine which are the possible positions from which one can choose who will be acting prime minister.

Regarding the process of introducing the euro in Bulgaria, he explained that business says it is not ready and wants to see what the plan is for that. “Deputies will adopt the Law on the Euro, we can bring inflation, but will we keep the deficit”, Karimanski asked.

Regarding the release of Deputy Governor Andrei Gyurov, he explained that it would not be good to allow the BNB to remain for a long time without a Deputy Governor for issue management. Gyurov was released due to incompatibility. “It is not about carrying out an activity, it is very clearly described in the BNB Act – non-participation and non-performance of activity," Lyubomir Karimanski added.
