„Russia is restoring its position on the European gas markets. It is now the number 2 supplier in Europe, after Norway. 15% of natural gas imports in Europe come from Russia. Dependence on Russian gas is growing not only in Central and Eastern Europe, but also in Northwestern Europe, where large companies choose Russian gas over American gas.

This was stated by Martin Vladimirov, an energy expert from the Center for the Study of Democracy to NOVA NEWS.

For Bulgaria, we know that Russian natural gas is imported indirectly, Vladimirov added.

Regarding the gas price increase in August, he said that “Bulgargaz” there aren't many options for natural gas supplies right now. “The Trans-Adriatic gas pipeline is being repaired and the Greece-Bulgaria supplies are limited by 20%, so gas must be drawn from the storage in Chiren. This is the reason why the price is slightly higher this month. There is a structural problem,”, said Vladimirov. According to him, there are no difficulties with supplies, there is a change in the mix of natural gas that is used.

Regarding the situation in the Red Sea and the rise in the price of gas in Asia, he said that this could lead to an increase in its price in Europe.
