More than half of the unemployed, or nearly 87,000 people, have no professional qualification and specialty. The Employment Agency reports that in one year compared to June 2023, they have grown by almost 8 percent.
Against this background, KNSB reported that over 1,000 unemployed people were trained under the "Chance for green and ecological employment" project. The program is financed from the state budget for this year and is specifically aimed at people with low education and no qualifications from areas with unemployment above the national average.
The unemployed with primary and lower education exceed 68,000 people, nearly 36,000 have been registered with the labor offices for more than 1 year. Diana Naydenova, the consultant for active policy on the labor market at the National Labor and Social Security Council, pointed out that according to the trade union's project “Chance for green and ecological employment” unemployed people are trained for the professions of forestry workers, carers, social assistants for children and adults. The project is implemented in partnership with 50 municipalities and medical facilities:
"People need to be cared for, to receive skills and competences and to be guaranteed more valuable employment. The project is to help people and preserve greenery in our cities".
The project is financed under the National Employment Action Plan with nearly BGN 1.5 million from the state budget. Nearly 600 of those who have completed the training are to be provided with jobs. Naydenova warns that during the training under the KNSB project, it became clear that some of the unemployed are registered at the labor offices, receive compensation, but continue to work in different companies without an employment contract:
"They show up on the first day of the course, the second, the third they don't. And when we took more serious measures to sanction them for not attending courses, they say to themselves: We registered at the bureau, but we continue to work in the company without a contract - a gray economy that drains the social system, serious measures are needed by the state. ;.
