The big fire in Sakar mountain has been localized, but the state of emergency announced yesterday for the municipalities of Harmanli and Topolovgrad remains. This was announced by the press center of the regional administration in Haskovo, quoted by BTA.

The area initially in the territory of the village of Cherepovo in Harmanlii caught fire in the early afternoon yesterday. The fires grew quickly because of the wind, and a helicopter was involved in the extinguishing. Roads in the region were closed to traffic, and a state of emergency was declared in the municipalities of Harmanli and Topolovgrad. Last night, the firefighters managed to stop one of the fire fronts towards the village of Glavan, Galabovo municipality.

By this morning, when the fire was contained, the flames had affected about 12,000 acres of forest, stubble, pasture, dry grass and brush. At noon today, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Ivan Kapitanov, announced at a briefing that the area of the forest fund through which the fire has passed is about 6,000 decares, and owners of burned pastures will be compensated.

Tonight, four teams of fire fighters remain on duty in the field, added the regional administration. All roads are now open for traffic.

"Tomorrow I will cancel the order for the introduction of a state of emergency in the municipalities of Harmanli and Topolovgrad", said the regional governor of Haskovo, Mehmed Ataman.
