Local taxes, especially for businesses, have been growing significantly over the last 10 years. This shows an analysis of the Institute of Market Economy.
The study covers four main taxes - on real estate, acquisition of property, vehicles and patent tax for retailers.
A scale of 0 to 100 is used, with 0 corresponding to the lowest rate allowed by law and 100 – of the highest.
According to the data of the analysis, taxes are the highest in municipalities along the Southern Black Sea coast, as well as in regional centers. With the highest index of the local tax burden are Sozopol, Primorsko, Sredets, Pomorie and Varna.
On the other side are the municipalities of Kaloyanovo, Medkovets and Mirkovo. On average for the country, the index of the local tax burden is equal to 53, and in 45 municipalities its value is higher.
