The big basket of requests of the 50th National Assembly remained empty. His activity was spent mostly in aimless hearings of ministers. He said this in an interview for the program "Newsroom" on Radio "Focus" the political scientist Ivaylo Iliev.
"More populism and less politics" – such is the expert's summary of the activity of this parliament.
"There is a continuing fragmentation of the political space, along with increasing polarization in society. Even the topical topics on which society finds it difficult to find the smallest common multiple are increasing more and more. It is this division that people see through their representatives in the body politic. It is when they see such behavior that it cannot help but have a direct impact on public attitudes. We have seen that the electorate remains the same. According to the latest survey by "Gallup International" there are no significant changes, apart from the hint that DPS currently belongs to Ahmed Dogan, and not so much to Delyan Peevski, but there are some specifics in the campaign," he commented.
"We should no longer simply talk about the search for the adequate formula of power, but we should really start asking ourselves the question of the lack of a coalition culture of politicians, which is projected directly into public attitudes towards governance,“ noted Iliev .
Action "Credit" and "the war" in DPS
According to the political scientist, all the institutional power of the judicial system has also already been brought into this pre-election regime and is being used for political purposes, even more obviously, even already with some openness.
"That is, it is not a problem to show the public how our supposedly independent judicial system is activated by certain circles when they decide to activate it. We literally saw how the "umbrella turns into a club". Obviously, the institutional architecture of power – and the judicial, let's see if the executive – will be brought into a pre-election context again with a political flavor, with the extraction of certain dividends", he also commented.
Political scientist Ivaylo Iliev also recalled the issue with regional governors during the "Glavchev" cabinet. According to him, the war in DPS is unfolding on multiple fronts. "In the end, we have to see how the small battles will affect the big war in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms,", he added.
"I do not rule out the two separate lobbies appearing as two separate formations. From the point of view of the DPS electorate, this will be disastrous," Iliev believes.
The new elections and the "wind of change"
"At this stage, there is no prospect that the seventh early parliamentary elections will bring the wind of change to our country. We see that the parties have currently not taken up the big topic of broadcasting a regular government after the elections, but have taken up pre-election accounts again", commented the political scientist.
"It is inevitable that the pressure for the emergence of a new major political entity will increase. "I'm tired of this talk about a project of President Rumen Radev, but it seems inevitable that some type of great power will not emerge to consolidate public attitudes," predicted Iliev.
The difficult task of the "Kozhareva" office
"Dimitar Glavchev has already been eliminated as a question. The second question remains – Kalin Stoyanov. The next question is whether Gorica Grancharova-Kozhareva will withstand this pressure that is being put on her from all sides and whether she will be able to overcome her lack of political and managerial experience to quell the tension. Indeed, the task is difficult", explained Ivaylo Iliev. He did not exclude surprises in the composition of the official cabinet at the last moment.
