The Ministry of Defense will present today at a press conference the results of the inspections of the aviation incident of September 13, 2024 at the Third Aviation Base in Graf Ignatievo, the department announced, quoted by BTA.
The press conference will be attended by the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov, the Deputy Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Tsanko Stoykov, Colonel Petko Vassilev, a state expert in the department “Investigation of Aviation Accidents and Incidents“ in the “Military Police“ Service.
On September 13 this year, during preparation for a demonstration flight at the 3rd Air Base near Graf Ignatievo, an L-39ZA combat training aircraft crashed. The two pilots from the 12th Air Base in Dolna Mitropolia died - Petko Dimitrov and Ventsislav Dunkin. They were posthumously promoted to military rank.
In early October, the Ministry of Defense announced that the data from the “black box” of the L-39 aircraft had been successfully downloaded and provided to the investigative team from the Military Prosecutor's Office.
