In the customs control area, the driver, a Turkish citizen with the initials A.K., presented documents that he was transporting goods from the Netherlands to Turkey and stated that he had nothing else to declare. During the customs inspection, the inspectors found under the mattress of the upper bed in the driver's cabin 10 bundles of euro banknotes of various denominations, wrapped with rubber bands. A total of 61,300 euros with a leva equivalent of 119,892 leva were found to be undeclared.
The undeclared currency was seized. An administrative violation act was drawn up against the Turkish citizen A.K. and administrative criminal proceedings have been initiated.
