The protest of the public transport in Sofia continues on Friday. This was decided by the employees of the municipal companies, after the unions held a meeting with the local authorities, reports Nova TV. It lasted over 3 hours, but did not lead to a general solution that would satisfy the protesters.
After it, the mayor of the capital, Vasil Terziev, made a statement: „They have an invitation at 8 a.m. "We will continue the talks on Monday, but this meeting will only take place if there is understanding and both ground transport and the metro start moving, so that Sofia residents do not have to become hostages to our talks," the mayor of Sofia said.
The local government has discussed with the unions the possibilities for financing the demands of the employees in the Sofia public transport. “Every single thing we do has a price at the expense of something else. We cannot, by solving one problem or injustice, create new ones”, Terziev was categorical.
During the meeting, the mayor and the deputy mayor for finance Ivan Vassilev explained to the protesters that the budget would be enough to provide 180 leva for all employees in the four companies, but in this way the municipality will not achieve the policy of attracting new drivers and service workers.
