At the end of 2019, 14-year-old Alexandra was swept away by a car on a pedestrian crossing on a capital boulevard. The trial for her death will not begin until 2023.

6 years after the fatal accident - there is still no verdict. The mother of the deceased girl, Ivanka Kolakova, stood in front of NOVA's camera hours before the next court hearing to demand justice.

She said that her daughter was hit on a pedestrian crossing on "Nikola Vaptsarov" Boulevard in Sofia on December 13, 2019. The girl was swept away by a jeep while she was walking home from classes at the Natural Sciences and Mathematics High School with her classmates.

Ivanka Kolakova said that she watched a recording of the accident in the courtroom, which shows her child being hit by the car and literally thrown in front of the vehicle.

According to her, the case has been delayed for years. Attempts have been made by the defendant's lawyers to drag it out.

"Unfortunately, the administration of justice is quite slow. Things dragged on a lot during the pre-trial proceedings. One of the significant problems is the shortage of experts, which affects the time it takes to wait for all the expert reports," she explained.
