Protests against joining the eurozone block 16 locations in the country

Protesters in support of the Bulgarian lev gathered at "Orlov Most" in Sofia to block traffic through the intersection. Only emergency medical teams are allowed to pass. Police guard the protesting citizens.

The participants carry Bulgarian flags and banners with inscriptions for preserving the Bulgarian lev and insist on holding a referendum proposed by President Rumen Radev on the introduction of the euro from 2026.

A protest for preserving the Bulgarian lev and the resignation of the government also blocked the Sofia-Burgas Sub-Balkan road in the section of the village of Dunavtsi, BGNES reported.

The protesters have also blocked the road to Shipka.

The protest will be held at a total of 16 locations in the country, including the "Durankulak" border checkpoint, the Republic Passage – Foul Water, Ruse, Burgas, "Ilinden" Border Checkpoint, Silistra, "Promahon" Border Checkpoint, Svilengrad, Plovdiv, Vidin, Velingrad, Stara Zagora, Varna, Kazanlak – junction for the village of Dunavtsi, Targovishte, Botevgrad.

The demonstrations were organized by several organizations: Union 29 (16 organizations), Irreconcilable IC, Animal Rights, Krumov Laws, Alliance of Citizens, Without Parties and Politicians, I Rule the State, Movement for Bulgaria and the Prosperity of the People, Resistance, Direct Democracy, PP KOI, Citizens' Forum Promyana.
