Hailstone-sized hail and heavy rain fell in the Stara Zagora village of Yastrebovo. Damage was caused to fruit trees and agricultural produce of the people in the village, NOVA reported.
Farmers complain that this happens to them every year, even though the hail control system in the region is located in the neighboring village of Petrovo.
A strong storm with hail and torrential rain hit Hisarya on Friday evening. Trees were uprooted, branches fell, causing serious damage to cars. A tin roof of a cooperative was also blown away.
We recall that the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology announced a risk of significant rainfall on May 25. A red code has been declared for parts of three districts in Bulgaria - Blagoevgrad, Smolyan and Pazardzhik - on Sunday.
The warning applies to the municipalities of Satovcha, Garmen, Yakoruda, Belitsa, Razlog and Bansko and parts of the districts of Smolyan and Pazardzhik. Up to 60 liters per square meter of rain are expected to fall in these places over the next 24 hours.
