A partial state of emergency for the villages of Byal Kladenets, Pet Mogili and Novoselets was declared by the mayor of the municipality of Nova Zagora, Galya Zaharieva, BTA reported.
A storm accompanied by hail was reported in the area last night, and a warning was published on the website of the municipality of Nova Zagora at 17:00 by the Regional Directorate “Fighting Hail” – Sliven for hail-bearing clouds.
No injuries after the storm, damage to property and agricultural production is serious, the mayor says. The power supply was interrupted in Byal Kladenets and Novoselets, trees fell on the road from the village of Mlekarevo to the village of Byal Kladenets. Emergency teams have been working on site.
The damage will be described next week.
In June last year, hailstorms damaged eight villages in Nova Zagora and the municipal center. The damage was extensive in the city, where dozens of cars had broken windows and bent metal sheets, electrical wires were cut, roofs and buildings were damaged, branches were broken, and the streets were clogged with leaves.
At that time, the city hosted a meeting between ministers and the leadership of the Executive Agency for Combating Hail, and the issue of creating new missile sites for anti-hail protection in the country was raised.
