"Most of the negatives are false, fabricated, apocalyptic and untrue. There are several obvious difficulties that may occur, but the positives outweigh the negatives".
In an interview for the show "Nedelya 150" on the "Horizont" program, the former Deputy Prime Minister explained what the positives are of Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone:
"There will be no bank fees for transferring amounts for servicing accounts. This is good for every person who, in one way or another, earns money in euros, which they then have to convert to consume in Bulgaria, because they pay between half and one percent of a fee, which is relatively meaningless. You don't get any service in return.
Just for the exchange of two currencies that are absolutely fixed, they don't change against each other, you give away half or one percent of the amount to banks or exchange offices.
In addition, we will have a better interest rate when taking out government loans. This is indisputable for me, because all the credit agencies that give Bulgaria's rating say it. I'm not saying that they are infallible. In the global financial crisis, we saw that they can make mistakes, but despite this, the markets continue to listen to them".
"Speculation and the additional inflationary effect in the literature are not documented, that is, if you look at all prices and take the average statistical change, there is no huge effect of entering the Eurozone on prices, but it is true that individual sectors can abuse this period, for example in small settlements", Pekanov commented:
"There they have monopoly power to set whatever prices they want. They still have it now. We need to be aware of this. The state must do its job quite seriously and in fact the president's call in this sense is positive. We need to talk about this and have full focus on this so that people do not say in a year's time – – – – "Do you see how they lied to us exactly during this period of transformation".
