People's representatives from the PG of "BSP - UNITED LEFT" submitted proposals for the general bill amending and supplementing the Road Traffic Act, related to stricter control over electric scooters. “These proposals are the result of numerous meetings with citizens, experts and representatives of various institutions and reflect our desire for more detailed regulation of the use of individual electric vehicles and in particular electric scooters“, commented MP Bilyana Ivanova. According to her, the aim of the texts proposed by the Socialists is to introduce order and ensure greater safety for all road users.
With the proposed changes from the PG of "BSP-United Left" they insist on a mandatory training course for drivers of electric scooters, as well as registration of this type of vehicle. According to the Socialists, it is necessary for municipal administrations to be given more control powers in order to effectively monitor compliance with the rules. It is also proposed to increase fines for violations, as well as stricter sanctions for repeated violations. The left pays particular attention to the safety of children and therefore insists on higher fines for parents who allow their children to use electric scooters before they have reached the legal age.
"Electric scooters are a fast, convenient and environmentally friendly means of transportation that offers a sustainable alternative to traditional vehicles, but it is important that each of us be a responsible participant in traffic, to protect ourselves and others. This is not just a matter of rules, but of culture and upbringing," Bilyana Ivanova also commented.
