Traffic on the “Trakia” highway is very busy today. A total of 50 km of the road is being repaired. This concerns four sections in the districts of Sofia, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Sliven, NOVA reported.

In the afternoon, there are serious traffic jams near Sofia and Plovdiv. Due to an accident, a traffic jam has formed between 10 and 23 kilometers.

Traffic is also busy in the repair area in the Sliven district. In the afternoon, the RIA recommended detour routes for drivers. In the direction of Sofia - Plovdiv, travelers are advised to take the I-8 Sofia - Pazardzhik - Plovdiv and vice versa. In the direction of Sofia - Burgas is also possible to pass along the sub-Balkan road I-6 Sofia - Burgas and vice versa, RIA reports.

They add that the two first-class road arteries are in good operating condition and currently have a significantly greater capacity to handle traffic in the west - east direction.

Work is ongoing in all sections of “Thrace“ closed for repairs and it is planned to complete the asphalt works in the sections in the Sofia and Plovdiv districts by June 12. The goal is to complete the construction activities as soon as possible so as not to hinder citizens and the tourist business in the most active summer months, RIA states. If the weather does not allow the implementation of the scheduled activities, they will continue until June 19 at the latest. After that, the curbs, horizontal markings, elastic fences and the benches will be laid. The crossing will be organized so that there are two lanes for travel in each direction and to ensure the necessary traffic permeability, the Road Agency's announcement also says.

On „Hemus” at the „Topli dol” and „Praveshki khanove” tunnels is also busy. The situation is similar on all main roads in the country. On the „Struma” motorway, traffic organization has been created at the Simitli junction for those returning from Greece at the end of the three weekends.
