“If households, which consume 38% of the total share of electricity, go to the market, the Electricity System Security Fund will fall into deficit and the financial stability in the country will be threatened. This was said by Andon Rokov, a member of the Economic and Social Council in the program “Social Network” on NOVA NEWS. According to him, about 1.8 million people in our country cannot afford to pay their electricity bills.

According to Rokov, when household consumers start paying the market price of electricity, a problem could arise for them.

„Currently, the situation is such that consumers pay the base price of electricity to the end suppliers, and they themselves - for the difference between the base and market price, will be compensated by the „Electricity System Security Fund”, he pointed out.

Rokov added that for something like this to happen, there must be changes in the law.
