The District Prosecutor's Office - Pleven detained the mayor of the village of Bojuritsa, Dolna Mitropolia municipality, for 72 hours after he caused bodily harm to a 62-year-old worker.
The case dates back to June 3, when, during an inspection of a cleaning group, an argument arose between the mayor and the injured man. During the scandal, the mayor took a shovel and struck several times, resulting in the victim's broken right arm and two ribs.
The victim worked at the city hall, and the beating was committed while on duty.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
Expertise tests have been ordered, video recordings and the shovel used to commit the act have been seized. The accused has not been convicted. The prosecutor's office has filed a motion with the court for permanent detention.
The investigation continues.
