The delivery of the new jeeps to the Armed Forces is one of the small investment projects that had a major effect on the personnel and capabilities of all armed forces and commands. A second stage is ahead with the delivery of another 320 vehicles by the end of the year, which, I hope, will end the era of UAZs and ZILs. This was announced at a briefing by the Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov after the end of the large-scale exercise "Balkan Guard" at the "Koren" military training ground near the village of the same name in Haskovo.
"The effect is great, people are happy and appreciate the new modern equipment and what the state is doing", Eftimov pointed out.
When asked about the introduction of new and larger drone systems, he replied that the process began with the idea of purchasing commercial drones for the Land Forces, in order to first build habits among the personnel.
The development of drone systems is known nowadays, the pace is really very high. That is why work is being done both at the national and European levels on mechanisms for acquiring such high-tech systems, the chief of defense commented.
He highly appreciated the maneuvers, in which, in his words, four nations demonstrated their strength, capabilities and abilities. According to him, there is a lot of work behind this, and the goal is for the forces to have the same or compatible software that allows for the planning, organization and conduct of combat operations.
Today's demonstration within an hour was the essence of the 15-day exercise, commented the officer planning the exercise and Commander of the Land Forces, Major General Deyan Deshkov. Over 1,700 servicemen participated in the exercise with about 350 units of combat and auxiliary equipment.
