The Ministry of Agriculture and Food officially launched the 2025 Harvest Campaign with a national event in the village of Tsar-Petrovo, Vidin region. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food Ivan Kapitanov and Yanislav Yanchev, who congratulated all farmers and expressed support for their efforts in the new campaign.

“This year, the forecasts are for a good quality wheat harvest. The expected yields are over 6 million tons, and for barley - about 900 thousand tons“, said Deputy Minister Yanislav Yanchev. He emphasized that our country maintains a stable position as a producer of quality grain, which provides both the domestic market and export potential.

In connection with trade relations with countries such as Ukraine, Deputy Minister Yanchev commented to media representatives that the ministry maintains a constant dialogue with the sector. “If there were serious disturbances, farmers would signal. We regularly receive analyzes that show that the market situation is stabilizing.“

For his part, Deputy Minister Ivan Kapitanov defined the opening of the harvest as a key moment in the annual calendar of the “Grain Production“ sector. “We are working to ensure the rhythm and predictability of payments, so that farmers have peace of mind and confidence that they will receive the support they rely on in a timely manner“, he pointed out. Kapitanov added that active measures are being taken to protect the harvest and improve production capacity – The scope of hail protection in Northern Bulgaria is being expanded and the existing hydro-ameliorative infrastructure is being repaired, with the aim of increasing the irrigated areas.

At the end of the event, the two deputy ministers extended their wishes for a healthy, fruitful and successful year to all Bulgarian farmers. The event was attended by the Deputy Regional Governor of Vidin Irena Nikolova, the Executive Director of the State Fund "Agriculture" Iva Ivanova, the Chairman of the National Association of Grain Producers Iliya Prodanov and others.
