The mayor of Boychinovtsi municipality Svetlin Sreteniev is returning to work after 4 months. The Court of Appeal in Sofia reinstated him today, after Sreteniev appealed a decision of the District Court in Montana.
The decision of the Court of Appeal as of today is not subject to appeal, the institution's press service confirmed to the Bulgarian National Radio.
Svetlin Sreteniev was removed from the position of "mayor" of Boychinovtsi municipality on February 19 at the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Montana. The investigation is that in the period January 1, 2018 - March 31, 2023. in his capacity as an official, he intentionally did not take sufficient care of the work assigned to him in accordance with the Law on Local Self-Government and Local Administration on the Organization of Management of Municipal Property and Finances.
On June 2, the Montana District Court did not accept Sreteniev's request to cancel the measure of "removal from office" and the decision was appealed to the Court of Appeal in Sofia.
