Specific data from the inspections of food products conducted by the inspectors of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) will be presented on Wednesday, June 25, at a joint briefing with the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) and the Commission for the Protection of Consumers (CPC) on Wednesday. This was said by the executive director of the NRA Rumen Spetsov in the program "Nedelya 150" on the Bulgarian National Radio.

He added that on Friday the entire set of analyzed data by cities, sites and products was sent by the NRA to the CPC and the CPC. What is required of us is to prevent speculation, noted Spetsov.

As early as June 3, 14 large groups of goods from the small consumer basket were selected and our inspectors entered the sites in over 30 cities in the country, requesting and describing the prices for the entire nomenclature of the given type of goods, he explained. This means that for example, for cow's cheese, they require all the brands that are sold of this product in the given site and describe the prices. The same goes for yogurt, fresh milk, “Dobrudzha“ bread, eggs, etc., so that we can have a complete picture of what is happening in terms of prices throughout the country, added the executive director of the NRA.

The first inspection by the NRA inspectors was on June 13, the next - on June 17, and there will be a third at the end of the month. Spetsov added that the inspections will continue until the end of the year, as well as after January 1, 2026, when the lev will be replaced by the euro.

According to him, prices have jumped since June 4, when the European Commission and the European Central Bank gave the "green light" for Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone in the extraordinary convergence reports, until the first inspection by the NRA. According to him, raising prices in 2 weeks "is not an objective factor".

If the price of fuel rises, this is an objective reason for the increase in the price of electricity, if the price of labor and insurance rises - these are objective factors, he noted.
