Even if the Strait of Hormuz is closed, this will not affect Bulgaria. The Bulgarian state is not so dependent on oil supplies. The state and all Bulgarian citizens are secured.
This was stated by the Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov after a working meeting at the Council of Ministers, convened by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, BGNES reported.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov, the Chief of Defense Emil Eftimov, the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova, the Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov, the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov and representatives of the security services.
In connection with the claims of certain associations that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will increase the price of gasoline to 2.80 leva, I would like to refute this information - the Bulgarian state is not so dependent on supplies from this region. There is a cargo that we have ordered, but it has already left the strait and is expected in Burgas within days, the minister explained.
We notice that there is a movement in the price of fuels within 3 to 5 cents. in different chains, but on world markets oil is traded at a standard price.
Regarding gas supplies - Bulgaria receives 1 billion. Azeri gas, and we recently signed a contract for the supply of gas from the liquefied natural gas terminals. "Bulgargaz" ensures the quantities for Bulgaria at prices that are about 15% below the gas exchange prices, explained Minister Stankov.
