Grandpa tried to put out a fire in his home himself, ended up in the medical helicopter

75-year-old patient was transported from Sliven to Plovdiv with 20% burns after a short circuit in the washing machine

The medical helicopter transported a patient with over 20% burns from the Sliven hospital to Plovdiv, BNT reported.

The patient, a 75-year-old man, was injured in a fire on Friday before noon in his home in the Sliven neighborhood of "Rechitsa".

He tried to put out the fire himself, but received multiple burns.

The fire was extinguished by two fire brigade teams, and the elderly man was immediately taken to the hospital by a team from the Emergency Medical Care Center.

The victim was referred to the burn clinic in Plovdiv. He was transported by medical helicopter, which landed on a specially constructed landing site in the yard of the "Dr. Ivan Seliminski" Hospital.

The cause of the fire was a short circuit in the washing machine.
