Beach lifeguards in Varna are earning over 2,000 leva this summer. In different places, salaries reach 2,300 - 2,500 leva.
This was reported for Radio Varna by Velislav Tsekov, chairman of the Association of Water Rescue Specialists at the Bulgarian Red Cross in Varna. Over 100 people have completed the BRC courses this year. They prefer better conditions and better pay, but there is no drastic shortage of lifeguards at sea and in the pool, Tsekov added.
The age of lifeguards on the beach is increasingly falling - they are becoming younger, faster and more motivated to work in this profession, emphasized the chairman of the Association of Water Rescue Specialists at the Bulgarian Red Cross.
