Denkov: PP will have an ethics commission. We will not support the vote of no confidence submitted by "Vazrazhdane"

"Let the prosecutor's office be so good that it does its job, and not pretend that it does not know what it is about and everyone says - this recording is not mine, because in the end it will also turn out to be unsuitable as evidence, because it was not made with special intelligence means. And when the facts are sifted from the suggestions, then we will see what the final picture is," commented Academician Denkov

„We continue the change“ will have an ethics commission, said Academician Nikolay Denkov at a press conference at the BTA National Press Club in Shumen.

Yesterday afternoon there was a meeting of the National Council of „We continue the change“. The most important decisions are that Kiril Petkov reconfirmed his resignation and it was accepted by the National Council. He said very clearly with this sign - political and moral - that “We continue the change“ is a different party and where there are problems, the party leader takes political responsibility to show that any forms related to corruption are completely unacceptable for us. That was, is and will be, noted Nikolay Denkov.

“At the same time, so that it does not remain just a political act and gesture, we are initiating a change in the party's statute, which will define the creation of an ethics commission that will deal with exactly such cases, there will be deadlines, if a signal is submitted, to be able to respond to the signal on its merits as quickly as possible, systematically, and where there are problems, to make decisions. Thirdly, this change in the statute will be adopted at the General Assembly, which will take place on September 27 and 28 this year. At the same meeting, elections will also be held for new party leadership bodies“, Denkov also said.

What we saw yesterday is that on the one hand, colleagues in the National Council were worried, worried by the information that was made public. On the other hand, when they received more clarity about what it was about, where the facts are and where the fantasies begin, because there are a lot of fantasies in what is being spread in the media, they clearly understood what the situation was. They said: “We are mobilized, we are moving forward, at least because we realize that together with “Democratic Bulgaria“ "We are the only two parties currently represented in parliament that actually stand for clear principles," Denkov said.

"Obviously, throughout the entire recording (after which Kiril Petkov resigned as co-chairman of “Continue the Change” and as an MP - b.a.) there are statements that are problematic - someone mentioning percentages, who should win the contracts. This is absolutely unacceptable and that is exactly why Kiril Petkov said that our party should not be associated in any way with such statements. But then a suggestion is made that has no basis, these incorrect statements are attributed to people from the leadership of “Continue the Change”. There is no basis for this, neither in the recording nor afterwards from the information we receive. Let the prosecutor's office be so good as to do its job, and not pretend that it does not know what it is about and everyone says – this recording is not mine, because in the end it will also prove to be unsuitable as evidence, because it was not made with special intelligence means. And when the facts are sifted from the suggestions, then we will see what the final picture is“, said Denkov in response to a question from a BTA reporter.

In response to another journalistic question, Denkov replied that „We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria“ will not support the vote of no confidence requested by „Vazrazhdane“, because it also includes Bulgaria's admission to the eurozone. He recalled that he had previously said that until the European common currency becomes an irreversible fact for Bulgaria, his party will not take steps related to a vote of no confidence.

„The competition announced for the position of director of the „Nikola Vaptsarov“ Secondary School in Venets, is one of the examples of the repressions that many people in Bulgaria are currently being subjected to. The case is important. It is not local to the village of Venets, it is not only for the Shumen region... The school principal, Mrs. Selime Kardjalieva, was illegally dismissed in 2014. She was reinstated through a court case. The minister is the same one who is today and the same process is currently beginning. A procedure is being initiated again, which is not legal, in order to remove her from this position“, Denkov also said at the press conference.

According to Kardjalieva, the story from years ago is being repeated and it is about the school's lands, for which the educational institution takes a rent. She explained that she was appointed to the position until the return of the incumbent, who in this case is the mayor of the Venets municipality Nehriban Ahmedova, and not until a competition is held.

The press conference was also attended by the MP from “We Continue the Change“ Aylin Pehlivanova, municipal councilors of the party in Shumen and colleagues of Kardzhalieva, who had come to the BTA press club in Shumen in support of her.

Nikolay Denkov said at the press conference that he was in Shumen to “discuss what is happening at the regional level, the new deputy mayor of Shumen Municipality (Beynur Ahmed from “DPS - New Beginning” - b.a.), how this change will affect the team, the policy and the implementation of the projects in Shumen, how the municipal projects are being implemented“.
