The locomotive on the fast train traveling from Varna to Sofia caught fire. The incident occurred in the Stara Zagora region. The passengers got out of the vehicle. Two fire brigade teams were called to the scene and extinguished the fire. Police and ambulance officers also arrived.
No one was injured in the incident. The locomotive itself was separated from the passenger cars.
One of the passengers on the train - Petar Todorov, told NOVA that a locomotive had arrived on the scene to pull the train to Stara Zagora. He added that the passengers are waiting for buses to transport them to Stara Zagora, and from there, after a new locomotive is fitted, to reach their final destination - Sofia.
Todorov indicated that about 130-140 people were traveling on the train. He also said that the mayors of the neighboring villages were the first to appear at the scene of the incident and offered water to the people.
