Bulgaria will join the reconstruction process of Ukraine, said GERB leader Boyko Borisov at a meeting with Olesya Ilashchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria. Borisov announced this on Facebook.
We have the opportunity to contribute in sectors such as energy, trade and infrastructure, the publication states.
We also discussed the development of military operations on the territory of Ukraine. Ukraine has Bulgaria's categorical support for its European perspective, adds Boyko Borisov.
On Wednesday, the government press service informed that the government proposes to the National Assembly to ratify two agreements to ensure Bulgaria's participation in the "EU for Ukraine" Fund. The documents regarding our country's participation in the fund with a contribution in the form of a guarantee of EUR 10 million were signed by the Bulgarian side on June 27, 2024 in Sofia, and by the European Investment Bank (EIB) on July 10, 2024 in Luxembourg.
Participation in the “EU for Ukraine“ Fund will allow Bulgaria to indirectly support the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine through the joint guarantee, together with the other EU Member States, of EIB operations, will contribute to the deployment of public and private sector projects for the reconstruction of critical municipal infrastructure and to improving access to financing for entrepreneurs in the country. The inclusion of the state will be another confirmation of our strong commitment to supporting the recovery and economic development of Ukraine, the press service of the Council of Ministers indicated.
