For more than 35 years, Bulgarian citizens have been following a clear direction - full European integration. This goal of theirs is on its way to coming true. Similar votes like today's are clearly not aimed at overthrowing the government, but rather at slowing Bulgaria down on this path. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and BSP Chairman Atanas Zafirov on the sidelines of parliament after the third unsuccessful no-confidence vote, quoted by "Focus"

Zafirov stated that the opposition's arguments during the debates were "frivolous".

"I can define a vote of no confidence as the nuclear bomb of an opposition, which should be used when you are sure that it will work or when you are missing a few votes, or when the government has clearly lost ground under its feet", he explained.

And he continued: "Nothing like that is happening. The results of the vote confirm it in a categorical manner".

According to Atanas Zafirov, votes of no confidence do not blame the work of the government, but of the parliament. He stated that the opposition is not working for the citizens by submitting such draft resolutions.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that he does not expect the government to fall next week, when there will be a new vote of no confidence. He also made a prediction about the duration of the cabinet's rule:

"I expect this government to complete its four-year term. I think it is, and Bulgarian citizens are starting to see the results of this rule - saved funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, municipal funds under investment programs, the Swiss rule and many things. This type of rule gives peace of mind to Bulgarian citizens", he said.

On the topic of increasing the salaries of doctors and medical specialists, he said that he expects the framework to allow this to happen soon to be completed.

Asked why he was attacked by the opposition today, Zafirov replied: "This is a demonstration of the level of political upbringing. There was no reason for such tension".
