Traycho Traykov: I was not pressured, and Borisov did not order me when I was a minister

I even asked because I needed people with certain specialties, but first of all, DSB does not practice this option, explained the mayor of the "Sredets" District

The capital municipality was shaken by a corruption scandal. District mayors and municipal councilors reported it.

In the program “This Saturday and Sunday“ on bTV, the mayor of the capital district “Sredets“ Traycho Traykov, who is also a former Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, commented on the recent events.

“Unfortunately, I was never offered people with whom to form my team. I even asked because I needed people with certain specialties, but first of all, DSB does not practice this option, an important factor is that in our region there are not many interesting and juicy things – there are many problems that need to be solved with effort and ingenuity“, he said.

And he explained that by “juicy things“ he meant larger sums of money, although he specified that in “Sredets“ they are significantly smaller than in other regions.

“I'll give you an example – in other regions, kindergartens are built for 5 million leva on bare land, we, the two buildings that we have built as kindergartens are former administrative buildings – for about 800 thousand leva. It's not that it's that cheap, and it's still a difficult job," said Traykov.

According to him, "Sredets" has the most underpasses and fountains in the entire capital - and for both he pointed out that the budget allocated so far has always been modest or none at all.

“In the one that has now been adopted, some amount has already been provided for repairing fountains“, he said.

On the topic of pressure exerted and bribes offered in the Sofia Municipality, he also commented on the time when he was Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, in order to comment on recent events:

“They didn't offer me anything, they didn't pressure me. To be honest, since you mentioned that I was a minister, Boyko Borisov didn't pressure me or order me – when I was a minister in the first GERB government“, said Traykov.
