“The drama continues to be the same – no one has changed the design, no one has made any suggestions for changes, let alone to make them, so I have no reason to retract my words“, said Dr. Konstantinov in the program “This Saturday and Sunday“ on bTV.

According to him, the basis of the protests of young doctors at the moment is precisely how the healthcare system works in our country.

He also commented on the offensive statement to young doctors by the MP from “There is such a people“ Toshko Yordanov: “Go to Italy, pay yourself, work for 5 years in some village in Sicily and come back happy here. If you think that everyone in the medical community is waiting for you abroad with open arms, I wish you success. If you don't work here, we will be forced to bring in specialists from other countries who will work happily for $500, as much as the state can afford“.

The former Minister of Health reminded that the medical profession is one of the so-called regulated professions and for this reason, importing is difficult. He is categorical that there is no country in the world from which we can import doctors for a salary of $500.

Regarding the demands of the young doctors - a minimum wage of 150% of the minimum wage and better paid night work, Dr. Konstantinov believes that they are feasible.

“The demands have been put forward at the highest level - in the National Assembly. The National Assembly is the structure that can make laws, reshape them, decisions can be made there“, the doctor added.
