A strong storm hit Lom. The summer rain brought the long-awaited cooling to Montana. Meteorologists reported a significant drop in temperatures after the heavy rainfall. NOVA viewers sent photos of broken roofs and fallen trees after the storm.
According to the director of the municipal company "Chistota" Petar Spasov, the wind speed was about 70 km/h, and the rain that fell was 32 liters per square meter. “The storm itself lasted about 20 minutes. There were many fallen trees and a long column of trucks and cars had formed on the Lom-Vidin road. There were broken streetlight poles and many fallen branches in the city. We received over 26 signals on the emergency phone. There were broken benches. We removed the dangerous damage. And we continue with the cleaning”, he explained.
Irena Dimova from the Lom Municipality emphasized that there were no victims or injured in the storm. A commission has been established that is about to assess the damage. But according to an initial assessment, they are not large and the municipal authorities have managed to cope with it on their own.
