First case of sanctioning for violation of the Road Traffic Act after connecting the toll management cameras with the Traffic Police systems, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

A technical vehicle of the Road Agency, located on the I-4 road (Sofia-Varna) in the area of the town of Omurtag, filmed a passenger car moving in the direction of the town of Targovishte, with a passenger getting in through its open roof hatch. The information was transmitted to the Traffic Police. After processing it, employees from the Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Interior in Yambol, Sliven and Targovishte took on the task of identifying the driver and passenger, with the coordination between them being carried out by the General Directorate of the National Police.

It was clarified that the driver is a 21-year-old young man from the village of Gradets in Sliven, and the passenger is a 32-year-old from the village of Lyulin in Yambol. The driver was issued and served with a notice of an established administrative violation under the Traffic Law. He was sanctioned for not providing all conditions for the safe transportation of the passenger, who was also without a seat belt, while driving. A sanction is also to be imposed for attempting to cover part of the vehicle's license plate.

The Traffic Police at the General Directorate of Traffic Safety uses data from the technical means of the Toll Management at the Road Infrastructure Agency, located throughout the entire national road network, not just on highways, to impose sanctions.
