The government will be stable if it understands that it cannot ignore the topic of judicial reform

Most cases in Bulgaria are going on outside of public attention, but there are those that change the overall picture and create doubts among a large group of citizens that justice is not being administered according to rules, but according to political interests. These protests show the problem of our rule of law state. This problem is relevant because it has not been resolved. This was stated by the former acting Minister of Justice Krum Zarkov in the program “From the Day” on BNT.

In his words, this government is stable and pointed out several supporting elements. “The first is a very serious parliamentary majority, the second – a clear and legitimate goal related to the introduction of the euro and the challenges of this, lack of an alternative, the Achilles heel is judicial reform.

The government will be stable if it understands that it cannot ignore the topic of judicial reform, Krum Zarkov is convinced.

Judicial reform does not consist of one measure, what happened was a general context of a complete suppression of the topic, since at that time we were operating in the conditions of the so-called assembly. This entire process made it so that the issue of judicial reform remained somewhat behind. This issue has yet to be resolved, he explained.

The protest should not be politicized, because otherwise it will not achieve its goals. The goal will be achieved if it permanently puts on the agenda the problems that have been pressing for years. This is not a politically neutral issue. In Bulgaria, the focus of attention is regularly shifted. When the focus of attention is concentrated on this topic, this allows for certain political configurations, when the focus shifts - the political configurations are different. The imposition of an agenda is to a large extent what predetermines who and how governs Bulgaria, Zarkov pointed out.
