Currently, 81 renovations of nursing homes in the country are being carried out. We have provided over 370 million under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. This was said by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov, who visited the Nursing Home in Silistra to monitor the progress of the implementation of the renovation project.

According to him, another 254 services will be opened in the country for just over 330 million. "This is a very large-scale operation, something that has not happened in the last 35 years", he emphasized, quoted by BTA.

Minister Gutsanov told the media that 77.6 million have been earmarked for the entire country, which will be for electric vehicles with charging stations. "We have designed the procedure in such a way that we will give the money to the mayors so that only cars that are for social needs, that can transport people with specific needs, and not be used as a luxury,", he added.

According to him, the ministry is currently collecting proposals from various municipalities for the construction of new homes. "We have moved over 400 people out of illegal homes, and suitable places must also be found. If necessary, new bases will be built so that all people can feel calm in the autumn of their lives," Minister Gutsanov pointed out.

He added that another area on which the ministry will focus is children. "The birth rate in Bulgaria, young families, children are of utmost priority. So this will be number one for our ministry next year," the minister also said.

Borislav Gutsanov noted that the purpose of his visit to the Home for the Elderly in Silistra is to see how the renovation is going in the largest home in Bulgaria. "The funds are significant - 17 million. The ministry's policy is to provide the funds to the mayors. They are the ones who are closest to the people and know the problems. It is important that the contractor company completes the work by June 30, 2026. The ministry has allocated another 6.5 million for another service for 30 people with specific characteristics, this should also be completed next year,” he stressed.

The Mayor of Silistra Alexander Sabanov also visited the Home for the Elderly. According to him, the renovation is going on schedule. "We will cope with the colleagues from the construction company, more and more workers are coming and the scale is becoming quite large", he added.

Minister Borislav Gutsanov also got acquainted in Silistra with the activities of the Home Social Patronage and the Center for Public Support, which provides support for children and their families, related to the prevention of abandonment, violence, school dropout, deinstitutionalization and reintegration of children and others.
