A fire is burning in the forest above the Veliko Tarnovo neighborhood "Cholakovtsi", the BG-ALERT warning system has been activated by the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, BTA reported.
The warning, received on the mobile phones of Veliko Tarnovo residents at around 4:00, says that a forest fire has broken out in the area of the residential area "Cholakovtsi" above the "Vladimir Komarov" Secondary School, spreading towards the residential area "Buzludzha" and "Toplofikatsiya" AD.
The signal was given at around 2:15 this night, the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Daniel Panov told BTA. The situation is under control, there are all fire service teams, both from Veliko Tarnovo and neighboring municipalities. According to Panov, at this stage there is no danger to the residents of the neighborhood and their homes. The area has been cordoned off by police teams, assistance is being provided to move cars. The fire is being extinguished in stages, the authorities are calling for action without panic, according to the instructions. The mayor of the municipality and the director of the Regional Fire Service, Commissioner Krasimir Krastev, are on site.
