The parliamentary committee for control over the special services heard the interim head of the National Security Agency Denyo Denev about a property used by the Russian embassy.
This is a land plot with an area of about 11,000 sq. m. in the Pancharevo district of the capital on the banks of the Iskar dam, in the sanitary protection zone, near the dam wall, BNT recalls.
The property is fenced and there are signs posted stating that it is managed by the Embassy of the Russian Federation. SANS gave explanations to the deputies - whether there is a threat to national security in connection with unregulated access to a strategic object of national importance.
Atanas Atanosov - Chairman of the Commission for Control over the Security Services:
"This is a direct threat to the national security of the state and SANS, the regional governor, no one has foreseen the necessary actions to take away this property. Employees of the Russian embassy visit this property, half of the employees are intelligence officers of the Russian intelligence services. This is not a property in the middle of a field, it is in the water supply zone of the largest facility that supplies Sofia with water. Since 2002. until now someone has been making some inquiries and there have been some disputes, and there is no basis for the Russian embassy to take possession of the property".
