The judicial investigation in the "Siyana" case has not been completed and has been postponed for the collection of evidence. The next hearing at the Pleven District Court is scheduled for September 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., NOVA reported.
Of all eight witnesses scheduled by the court to be questioned today, two did not appear. The summonses to the witnesses were sent on July 9 - the day after the pre-trial hearing.
At the request of the parties, reports with information on traffic and the number of road accidents that occurred on the road section near Teglish will be requested. The remaining witnesses from the list of the indictment will be summoned for questioning at the next court hearing, as well as the two who did not appear today.
Under the windows of the Pleven District Court, protesters once again demanded justice. Through tears, Siyana's grandmother, who was with her in the car in the fatal accident, recalled the horror she experienced.
"The truck took us away, and the driver did not even come. Siyana was like a child to us. When she was little, she called me 'mom'. My tears have not stopped for 4 months. I don't feel like living, I don't feel like doing anything. I want many years in prison, and when he gets out of prison - for the truck to sweep him away," said the woman.
The father of the deceased child, Nikolay Popov, emphasized the problems in the judicial system. "I and the media are collecting witnesses. These are the facts. In the 21st century, they are summoned on paper, the summonses travel to the relevant district court according to the witnesses' address registration, and that is why these cases are delayed," he explained.
According to him, the lack of a quick and fair trial is a prerequisite for such incidents to continue to occur.
We recall that the last session was marked by scandals and illegal attempts to close it, as well as an attempt by the defendant driver to delay the trial. The case of the death of the 12-year-old girl at the end of March near Teglish caused a wave of public discontent.
