The resignation of Ivan Vassilev is the only good news that the Sofia Municipality administration has produced in recent months. This was stated by Ivan Takov, Chairman of the BSP - Sofia and of the Local Coalition group "BSP for Bulgaria" in the Sofia Municipal Council, on the occasion of the announcement of the Deputy Mayor for Finance and Healthcare, with which he announced that he was leaving his post.
"In no case do not understand this as gloating on my part. I am saying this solely and only in relation to the personality of Ivan Vassilev, who regularly refused to implement the decisions of the Sofia Municipal Council. In this way, he consistently and methodically led the municipal economy and municipal companies to an extremely difficult, unenviable state, explained Ivan Takov. - For a year and a half in his post, this person never acquired an elementary political culture, did not make any attempt to find a common language with the representatives of the political groups in the Municipal Council, did not understand the rules of municipal work. The result of all this is today's news.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Transport and Road Safety in the Municipal Council added that he was not surprised by the latest resignation of a member of Mayor Vasil Terziev's team. "In fact, nothing produced by the mayor and his administration can surprise me anymore, added Ivan Takov. - Terziev sat in the mayor's chair with a huge request. Before that, he trumpeted for months that he was coming to govern Sofia with a ready-made team... So, where is this team now? In what state is the administrative management of the Sofia Municipality currently in? There is no longer even a deputy mayor for finance and healthcare. There is no deputy mayor for transport, construction, European funds, security... The main and key activities in Sofia Municipality are left to chance. This is not management, but total irresponsibility.
Ivan Takov called on Mayor Vasil Terziev to finally start working and implementing the decisions of the Sofia Municipal Council. "So far, Ivan Vassilev has obviously been in the way. He is no longer here and the mayor can start unclogging the work, said the chairman of the Socialist group in the SOS. - I would recommend that he turn his attention to transport from today. Because Ivan Vassilev's stubbornness, supported by the councilors from the PP-DB and "Save Sofia" at the last session, calls into question the normal functioning of Sofia's urban transport in the coming months. This inexplicable stubbornness forces companies to pay completely unnecessary interest on loans, given that they can be avoided with one reasonable action. We proposed it, but the report on bridge financing was boycotted at the last session of the SOS for the season last week by Ivan Vassilev and the advisors from the PP-DB and "Save Sofia".
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Transport and Road Safety in the SOS stated that the Sofia Municipality, for some unknown reason, is in debt to CGM EAD. "For this reason, transport companies do not have working capital to pay their operating expenses and accumulate liabilities to counterparties, and interest on them, explained Ivan Takov. - They do not pay for their fuel, they accumulate liabilities and interest on them, they do not pay for their spare parts, they accumulate liabilities and interest on them... In the road transport sector, the supply of spare parts stops, buses break down, they start missing courses, they cannot fulfill the transport task and CGM does not pay them. In this way, the road transport sector loses money. The things are connected. If fuel supplies are stopped due to unpaid debts, what will the Sofia Municipality do? That is why we proposed the bridge financing. This is a completely reasonable solution to keep things running smoothly in Sofia's transport sector.
