The official opening of AXON Lab is taking place at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior - the first of its kind innovation center in Bulgaria for training and implementing modern technologies in the field of internal security.
Thus, the Ministry of Interior purchased tactical vests to which body cameras can be attached. The uniformed officers also received a new model of tasers with which they can neutralize a dangerous person from a distance with an electric current, reported novini.bg.
"First of all, this laboratory is related to the training of the Ministry of Interior personnel, the Academy is the most natural place for this to happen. Tasers have a preventive effect on exceeding the powers, for human rights, and against criminals," said the rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, Senior Commissioner Prof. Dr. Ivan Petrov Vidolov.
100 border guards from different countries will be trained in the fall at AXON Lab, he also said.
The Ministry of Interior also demonstrated the tasers.
