A protest against air pollution from the "Bobov Dol" TPP was held in Golemo Selo, close to the power plant. About 200 residents of the village expressed their dissatisfaction with the dirty air, which they believe is due to frequent accidents and fires at the TPP site, which is located about a hundred meters from the nearest houses.
The protesters cited data from the mobile air quality measurement station, which shows that there is serious dust in the area and exceeding the permissible levels of sulfur dioxide and other pollutants.
The residents of Golemo Selo demanded guarantees that the power plant would begin technological renovation and modernization to meet the standards, as well as that a 24-hour mobile station for measuring air pollution indicators be installed and that access to them be free.
The executive director of the Bobov Dol TPP, Chavdar Stoynev, came to the protesters.
He did not commit to such steps, but promised that after the repair of the second unit, which is currently underway, in October, the air quality situation would improve.
