Special US envoy Steve Witkoff met in Tel Aviv today with relatives of hostages held in the Gaza Strip and told them that the US will return their loved ones home and ensure that the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" will be held accountable, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

"We will return your children home and hold "Hamas" accountable for all their bad deeds. We will do what is right for the people of Gaza," Wittkoff said.

The special envoy also expressed hope that the end of the war is near.

"We have a plan to end the war and bring everyone home," he said.

For US President Donald Trump, the release of all hostages is a "sacred mission," noted Steve Wittkoff.

Germany reports some progress in delivering humanitarian aid to the population in the Gaza Strip, but the aid is still not enough to deal with the crisis in the Palestinian enclave, German government spokesman Stefan Cornelius said today, quoted by DPA and BTA.

Cornelius' written statement was released after German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful spoke by phone with the German security cabinet at the end of the visit in Israel and the West Bank.

"Israel must continue to ensure significant supplies, also with the help of the UN and other humanitarian organizations," Cornelius stressed.

"At the same time, the German government expresses serious concern about the information that large quantities of humanitarian supplies are being withheld by "Hamas" and criminal groups," the government spokesman added.

According to sources in the German security services, between 50% and 100% of the aid that reaches Gaza ends up in the hands of the Palestinian Islamist movement "Hamas" or other organizations.
