A fire is burning in the second cell of the Regional Municipal Waste Landfill near Silistra, the mayor of the city, Alexander Sabanov, announced on his Facebook page.
No people were injured. There are 4 fire engines working on site, 2 water tankers, one of which is at the landfill and the other is at the OP "Sineva", 2 excavators, 2 bulldozers and a truck. The fire has been localized. Teams from Tutrakan and Dulovo will be involved to help extinguish the fire.
In addition, several trucks should have arrived by 06:00 in the morning to transport soil from a neighboring property for backfilling.
The cause of the fire is yet to be investigated, the mayor also specifies.
