Atanasov: It is extremely important that the next president be the antipode of Rumen Radev

If we close the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), 18 million will immediately be released. This is a redundant body that duplicates other anti-corruption bodies

„If we close the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), 18 million will immediately be released. This is a redundant body that duplicates other anti-corruption bodies. Over the years, all sorts of experiments have been made - there was a commission „Kushlev“, BORKOR, KPKONPI“. This was commented on BTV by the chairman of "Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria" and co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria" - Atanas Atanasov.

„Economic Police“ is a very branched system in the Ministry of Interior, which has similar powers to the ACC. "18 million is the budget of this parasitic structure," he commented.

“The big problem is the weakness of the prosecutor's office“, said Atanasov.

When asked how they will differentiate themselves from “DPS-New Beginning“, who also have a project to close the anti-corruption commission, the chairman of “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria” indicated:

“There is no need to differentiate ourselves, in my opinion, this is some kind of imitation on their part. In the end, the result is important. It must be such that there is a mechanism to combat corruption. During the autumn session of the National Assembly, the most important task - along with the euro - should be judicial reform.

“We have a Supreme Judicial Council with an expired mandate - more than two years, and we do not have a prosecutor general“, pointed out the chairman of "Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria".

In his words, the problem is not in the fragmented opposition, but in the fragmented ruling party.

“We continue to work for the democratic forces in Bulgaria to reach a unified candidacy for president. The basis is our PP-DB coalition. We also invited extra-parliamentary parties, about which we have information that they look to the West. The attendance was quite impressive. We exchanged opinions. We will continue in the fall“, said Atanas Atanasov.

He pointed out that there are several names that are being discussed, but he would not allow himself to speculate and added that given the mentioned candidacies of “BSP-United Left“ in the person of Natalia Kiselova and Iliyana Yotova – the chances of the democratic forces are increasing.

“It is extremely important that the next president be the antithesis of Rumen Radev and Georgi Parvanov. That he be a Euro-Atlantic with a well-known biography“, said Atanasov, referring to the words of Ivan Kostov.

“The risk of having a president again who serves the interests of the Kremlin must be considered very carefully. "He must be a person with a political past," said Atanas Atanasov.

Regarding the arrests surrounding the PP-DB, he said that these were active measures by the ruling party - "with the aim of crushing the opposition," and the mayor of Varna was detained illegally.
